Scooby dooby doo!
This month, I thought it would be fun to take on the theme 'Sleuths'
As you may already know, I absolutely love 'whodunnit' books and movies. Thought I would start with the classic cartoon series, "Scooby Doo".

Line art
Decided to experiment a little with line this week and chose birds as my subject matter.
I thought it would be fun to paint them in bright colors on a black background. It almost makes it seem like they are glowing!

Lil Red
A little red and a lot of green! I was part way between sleep and wake when this image came to my head. I liked the idea of a blobby shape with the part of the image creeping out. I also love doing tones of one color contrasted with a pop of another!

Train Sketches
This month I have been riding the train to work. I decided to take advantage of the commute by sketching passengers on the way. It's been a fun way to get some drawing practice in. Some of the best advice I got about finding your style is that it comes naturally when drawing from life.

Mr. & Mrs. Fox
I have seen foxes everywhere for a while now and you might be over them, but I still think they are really cute! I played with designing a couple of foxes in a simple, flat style which I always really enjoy. I might have to do a series of woodland creatures in this same approach, don't you think?
Here are some images of my Mr. and Mrs. Fox collection at my Society6 store:

RAW: Artist Showcase
Hi friends and family!
Time for an update...
This month is going to quite a busy month for the hubby and me.
Firstly, I accepted a new day job and we are moving to Salt Lake.
Even though I really enjoyed where I was, this change needed to happen and we are excited for the new adventure!
Secondly, I have been working on some projects that I haven't been able to share just yet, but know I am busy and there is art in the works coming very soon!
Thirdly, I was approached to be a featured artist at the annual show "RAW" in Salt Lake next week (2/19/15). They showcase artists of both visual and performing arts, so there will be a lot of amazing things to see that night. I will have a booth set up with prints and such and would love to see your friendly faces there! If you can come and support the local artists, please purchase tickets for the show HERE, (just click where it says 'I am RAW').

Fashion: "The Devil Wears Prada"
If you follow me on Instagram, you would have already seen some of these illustrations.
One of the styles I am excited to experiment more with is Fashion.
Some of my favorite fashion illustrators include Edith Head, David Downton and Rene Gruau.
This first series I've done was inspired straight from the movie: "The Devil Wears Prada" using ink and acrylic paint.

2015
Something I loved about being in school was that we were always exploring and experimenting. I have so many ideas and questions buzzing through my head of different things I want to try and I've decided it is time to experiment again, and I don't just mean with art either.
There have been things I have pushed aside for school, work or whatever the reasons may have been. Now it is time to do some of those fun new things!
I'm excited for what lies ahead and I hope 2015 is an incredible year for us all!

I decided to play with traditional ink and watercolor for this... already experimenting!
